The first Justice: Just For Girls stores were opened in 2004 after Tween Brands (The Limited at the time) felt their current target market of 15 to 20 year olds wasn't working. The stores were an immediate success and by 2012 there were almost 1,000 stores in total.
In 2009 the company was acquired by The Ascena Group, which trades on the NASDAQ. That same year ShopJustice.com was launched.
The Justice brand has seen immense growth, even outselling much larger chains like Target and Walmart in the tween girls clothing segment.
