Dress Barn was founded by Roslyn Jaffe in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1962. The purpose of the original store was to provide working women with appropriate clothing during a time when more and more women were entering the workforce. Over the years it slowly expanded in to a more typical fashion outlet and is now one of the largest in the country.
Part of this is down to acquiring other retailers. For example in 2009, DressBarn acquired Tween Brands, the owner of the Justice chain of 891 stores.

Customers can have their orders shipped to their local store free of charge, or via standard home delivery for a flat rate of $4.95. This will take between 5 and 7 business days.
